A friend came to dinner this week and told me about a TV show in which kids were asked to identify various foods. Sadly, the kids knew the processed foods but came up short when it came to fruits and vegetables.
We can make sure this doesn’t happen to our kids by shopping the perimeter of the grocery store and avoiding the interior aisles where processed foods like to lurk. We can wander through farmers’ markets. And we can take them on farm tours, like the one at Grant Family Farms in Wellington, CO this weekend. It runs Saturday from 8 to 6 and features crop tours, music, animals and more. For more information, visit their website at Grant Farms.
