DISCLAIMER: In today’s video I’ll be talking about the various ‘diets’ that I’ve tried and how those choices have affected my life with Type 1 Diabetes (and in general). However, I will not be referring to weight, weight loss, calories, calorie restriction, or anything else that I would deem potentially triggering for people with a history of disordered eating. I want this video to be a safe space for those who may have a history of difficulty around food choices, but equally if the subject matter is potentially triggering to you regardless of these omissions I completely understand and support your choice not to watch this video. 💙

I get a lot of questions about what I eat since I live with Type 1 Diabetes. I think we’re all curious and even confused about what other people eat and if they have this secret answer to make life better, more enjoyable, easier, healthier. I do not in any way have the answers – in fact – I’m asking the questions too!

And I’m always hesitant to talk about what I eat, and I hate hate hate the connotations that the word ‘diet’ carries in our modern day society. Becuase what we choose to fuel our bodies with is extremely individual and it’s so much more that what’s on your plate. But, I also recognize that sometimes placing a structure around eating can be very beneficial in filtering out food noise and getting clear with your intentions and decisions around food, especially when living with a chronic condition that demands a certain level of measuring and quantifying food at virtually every turn.

So, in my totally imperfect, I, in no way have it even remotely figured out way – here I go talking about various “diets” I’ve been on and how they’ve interacted with my Type 1 Diabetes.
